How to estimate a trip budget
A simple way to estimate what a trip will cost before you book: daily spend, accommodation nights, rooms and flights, kept separate.

Most trip costs scale with days on the ground. Take a realistic daily figure per person for food, local transport and activities, and multiply by the number of days.
Count nights, not days
Accommodation is charged per night: a 7-day trip is usually 6 nights. Rooms are shared too — two travellers per room is a sensible default, so three or four people normally need two rooms.
Keep flights separate
Flights are a one-off, trip-level cost that varies hugely by route and timing. Estimate them on their own from live prices rather than folding them into a daily figure.
Leave some headroom
If a destination comes out slightly over budget, it can still be realistic with small trade-offs. Much more than about a quarter over is usually a sign to pick somewhere else or shorten the trip.
Let the finder do the maths
The trip finder applies these same rules to every country at once, using your budget, trip length and number of travellers.
