Around $65 a day per person covers simple accommodation, local food and public transport. That's the mid-range end of South Korea.

Cheapest months to go

Peak is April, May, September, October. The weeks either side of that window usually carry most of the weather with much less of the price.

Getting around for less

Realistic options in South Korea:

  • KTX high-speed rail links Seoul and Busan in under three hours
  • T-money card works on almost all urban transport
  • Flights to Jeju are frequent and cheap

Where to base yourself

Fewer bases means fewer paid transfers. Seoul, Busan, Jeju cover a lot between them.
