Yes — March is one of Vietnam's strongest months. Strongly regional. The north has a cooler winter and a hot, wet summer; the central coast has a distinct late-year rainy period; the south is tropical year-round with a dry season and a wet season of afternoon downpours
Weather and crowds
Countrywide window: Generally the most reliable period to combine north, centre and south in one trip. North: Drier and cooler; December–February can be genuinely cold in Hanoi and the far-north mountains. Central coast: Driest and best for beaches; the late-year months bring the region's heaviest rain and storm risk. South: The dry season; May–October brings short, heavy afternoon rain rather than constant grey.
What to do in March
Best suited to food, backpacking, nature trips. Good bases this month: Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Ninh Bình.
Budget in this month
Plan on roughly $70 a day per person at mid-range (estimate, excluding flights).
