Czechia is a compact, landlocked country in the middle of Europe, and the official tourism board organises travel around Prague, historic towns, spa towns, castles and protected nature areas. The climate is temperate continental with four distinct seasons: warm summers, cold winters and clearly transitional spring and autumn. Distances are short, rail and coach links are dense, and costs stay below Western Europe, which makes it a strong pick for city breaks, culture, nightlife and slow small-town travel.

The places worth building a trip around

Each of these has its own page with timing, budget and getting-around notes.

  • Prague (City) — The capital: castle district, Old Town, riverside walks and a serious beer scene.
  • Český Krumlov (City) — A medieval town wrapped in a river bend beneath a large castle complex.
  • Brno (City) — Moravia's student capital: modernist architecture, cafés and lower prices.
  • Karlovy Vary (City) — West-Bohemian spa town of colonnades, thermal springs and a wooded valley setting.
  • Kutná Hora (City) — Former silver-mining town with a Gothic cathedral, an easy day trip from Prague.
  • Bohemian Switzerland (Park) — Sandstone gorges, rock arches and forest trails on the northern border.

Pairing them up

Prague long weekend: Castle, Old Town and one day trip. Route — Prague → Kutná Hora.

What the country is strongest for

Czechia rates highest for culture, nightlife, romance, backpacking, which is a good sanity check before committing.
