November, December, January, February, March, April are the strongest months in Mexico. Highly diverse: tropical coasts often around 25–33°C with a rainy season broadly May/Jun–Oct depending on region, and temperate highland cities that stay mild much of the year
Season by season
How the year breaks down for trip planning.
- Dry season (Nov–Apr) — The broad sweet spot for many classic coastal and highland routes.
- Rainy season (May/Jun–Oct) — Timing and intensity vary by region; often afternoon rain rather than all-day.
- Hurricane consideration (Jun–Nov) — A regional factor on Caribbean and Gulf coasts, not a nationwide blanket condition.
- Highlands (Year-round) — Mexico City and Oaxaca stay temperate and remain viable most of the year.
Best value window
Rainy season (May/Jun–Oct) usually gives the best balance: timing and intensity vary by region; often afternoon rain rather than all-day. Shifting a trip two or three weeks either side of peak is normally the single biggest saving available.
How long to stay
Most trips to Mexico work best at 7–14 days, which is enough for Mexico City, Oaxaca, Yucatán & Mérida without living on transport days.
