Singapore on a budget
How to travel Singapore cheaply without gutting the trip — daily numbers, cheaper months and where the savings actually are.

Around $70 a day per person covers simple accommodation, local food and public transport. That's the higher cost end of Singapore.
Cheapest months to go
Peak is February, March, April, May, June, July, August. The weeks either side of that window usually carry most of the weather with much less of the price.
Getting around for less
Realistic options in Singapore:
- The MRT metro is fast, cheap, air-conditioned and reaches almost every visitor area including Changi
- Contactless bank cards or an EZ-Link card work directly on trains and buses
- Ride-hailing apps are reliable; taxis are metered and honest
- Much of the centre is walkable, with sheltered links between malls and stations
- Sentosa is reached by monorail, cable car or a short boardwalk
Where to base yourself
Fewer bases means fewer paid transfers. Marina Bay, Chinatown & Tiong Bahru, Kampong Glam & Little India cover a lot between them.
